Surrounded by sea on one side and country landscape on the other, Blue Anchor is purposefully positioned to enjoy the best Somerset can offer. Near the borders of Exmoor; gorse filled moorland, birdlife, and local landmarks are all waiting to be explored. Blue Anchor itself nestles in the heart of Blue Anchor Bay, an enormous expanse of beach and seascape with only the tip of Wales breaking the horizon on a clear day. There is a long level seafront promenade that is easily accessed from the bungalow. The West Somerset railway runs through Blue Anchor and you can easily catch a steam train to Minehead or Bishops Lydeard. The trains can also be seen from the lounge or patio. Blue Anchor has two pubs, a cafe and a shop (shop not open in winter).
The West Somerset Railway have many events through the year such as steam galas, Thomas the Tank Engine, Father Christmas Specials, Carol Trains etc. For more information and dates visit the official website of the West Somerset Railway www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk or a very good unofficial website www.wsr.org.uk
